Profit Centre Performance Tracker graphic illustrating how DentPulse measures chair occupancy, utilisation, and revenue per chair hour to calculate true profit contribution in a dental practice

What Is PCPT™ (Profit Centre Performance Tracker)?

PCPT™ — short for Profit Centre Performance Tracker — is a proprietary DentPulse feature created by founder, Shishir Khadka, that measures the real-time profitability of each dental chair in your practice.

Every chair is a profit centre.
PCPT™ shows exactly how much profit each one produces — after factoring in occupancy, utilisation, treatment mix, associate pay, and direct costs.

It’s the fastest way to identify:

  • Which chairs drive the most profit
  • Which are underperforming
  • How to reallocate time and resources for maximum ROI

Why PCPT™ Matters for Dental Practice Owners

Many owners track total practice revenue.
But very few know the profit per chair hour — the single most accurate measure of clinical asset performance.

Without this clarity:

  • A “fully booked” chair might still lose money
  • NHS-heavy chairs can dilute private margins
  • New associate schedules may not justify the fixed costs

Example:

ChairHours AvailableHours UsedRevenueDirect CostsTrue Profit
Chair 1120108£42,000£21,500£20,500
Chair 212090£28,000£19,000£9,000

→ PCPT™ pinpoints where to focus to increase profit without adding more chairs.

DentPulse Tip™

A chair is a fixed cost asset.
If it’s not producing profit, it’s producing losses.

PCPT™ makes every chair earn its keep.
